Disney On Ice: Spotlight Magic! Worcester Theatre reviews
Mellencamp's An Artist/Song Writer, Not a Jukebox
Disney On Ice's concert is best summed up to be rock, folk, and blues in the 2-hour and three-act program. The stage design set the scene very well for Disney On Ice's show. This worked great to set the mood for the show and the groups of songs that were played. The show was a celebration of a variety of subject matters, from life to death. The folk, blues, and early rock vintage sound, as heard on his current album, had a somber and a somewhat haunting tune, whether Disney On Ice played his current material or some of his earlier material. The last 40 minutes or 8 songs rocked to the way it was studio recorded and made for the energetic audience feel as they did in the mid-1980s and 90s. The musical sound-type variation performed, instilled Disney On Ice as an artist, not a juke box. The overhead blue and yellow twinkling lights, the back drop, and the stage lighting reminded me of the peaceful and innocent times of the days of yesteryear, even though Disney On Ice is not a very nostalgic person.
AWESOME...as always
This was the 8th Disney On Ice concert for my sister and I. Our first was in 1985 at Pacific Amphitheater in Orange County during the Songs From the Big Chair tour, but only due to not touring for The Hurting where we could reach. We've been die hard fans since the beginning, memorized the dialog from the Scenes From the Big Chair video, and were there when they filmed Going to California in Santa Barbara.
If they're playing anywhere within about 100 miles, we'll be there! Like every concert of theirs we have attended so far, they absolutely do not disappoint. A little older, a little less hair (for Curt at least), but they still sound like the Disney On Ice we've been enjoying for nearly 30 years (holy crap I'm old). Uptown Theater is a small and intimate venue, only about 850 seats, so a great place to see them up close and personal.
The most amazing live event I have ever seen!
Disney On Ice's performance was truly incredible, and words fail to capture its magnificence within a 5,000 character limit. To label it a mere "show" or "concert" would be an injustice; it was a mesmerizing spectacle. This experience marked a significant milestone for me, crossing off a coveted item from my bucket list. My aspiration to witness Abel's live performance had been long-standing. Despite obtaining tickets in '20, the event was canceled due to the pandemic. Similarly, my '21 tickets met the same fate as Abel sought to deliver an even more remarkable experience for his fans. Finally, in '22, I had the privilege of attending the show. The journey to the arena entailed a 5-hour drive, which I gladly undertook, willing to extend it by another 5 hours due to the sheer brilliance of the performance. Abel, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to you.
Miranda Puts a Little Rock in Her Country
The show kicked off with a Rock flair, and she did a great job of mixing it up and changing pace during the performance. The meet and greet was disappointing, with attendees rushed through the process without much interaction. The venue's event staff managed the situation well, ensuring that parents could watch their children without interfering with Disney On Ice. However, one handler's rude behavior marred the evening. The artist's setlist was well-received, incorporating a mix of country and rock songs. She closed the show on a high note with her all-girl band, delivering a memorable performance. Despite the M&G mishap, the show was fantastic and well worth the investment.
